DIANE THOMPSON has left professional services firm Ernst & Young, where she was a partner in the compensation and benefits practice, to join Ballard Spahr. She’s now a partner in the firm’s employee benefits and executive compensation group, based in Los Angeles.

The London office of Chadbourne & Parke has welcomed a new partner, banking and finance lawyer PARTHA PAL. Pal comes to Chadbourne from the London office of Sidley Austin, where he was a partner.

Drinker Biddle & Reath has expanded its New York office with the hire of hedge fund and private equity lawyer KAY GORDON. Gordon last worked in the New York office of K&L Gates as a partner.

SUSAN NEUBERG has joined the New York and Washington, D.C., offices of Edwards Wildman Palmer as a partner in its business law department. Neuberg spent much of her career as corporate counsel at Citigroup and was most recently at Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft.

Three partners from Maddin, Hauser, Wartell, Roth & Heller have joined Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn’s real estate department. LOWELL SALESIN, KASTURI BAGCHI, and L. JEFFREY ZAUBERMAN have joined Honigman as partners in Detroit. 

Hunton & Williams has welcomed former federal prosecutor LAURA MARSHALL as a white-collar partner in its Richmond office. Marshall was previously a senior member of the U.S. attorney’s office for the eastern district of Virginia, most recently in a unit responsible for civil and criminal asset forfeiture and recovery.

Two years after joining Jenner & Block from now-defunct Howrey, MARY CRAIG CALKINS has left the firm for Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton’s insurance recovery team in Los Angeles. Calkins joins as a partner.

Kilpatrick also announced that DAVID GRABER, formerly the general counsel and head of business affairs for Wild Brain Entertainment Inc., which produces television shows including Yo Gabba Gabba!, has joined the firm’s Los Angeles office as a transactional entertainment counsel.

The Los Angeles office of K&L Gates has added CHARLES SCHWENCK, previously a partner and member of the energy industry team at Foley & Lardner, as a partner in its energy, infrastructure, and resources practice.

The newest addition to Kramer Levin Naftalis & Frankel is DANIEL RABINOWITZ, who has joined the firm’s New York office as a partner in the insurance practice group. Rabinowitz joins from Chadbourne & Parke’s New York office, where he was also a partner.

CAROL KAPLAN, formerly counsel in the entertainment department of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison, has become a partner in the New York office of entertainment law firm Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp.

Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart has welcomed its 17th new shareholder of the year, Los Angeles–based ROBERT ROGINSON. Roginson, who represents employers in class actions involving allegations such as employee misclassification and meal and rest period violations, joins from Atkinson, Andelson, Loya, Ruud & Romo.

Reed Smith has added JULIUS TURMAN to its labor and employment practice in San Francisco. Turman had been a partner at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius in that firm’s employment group since 2009.

In Milan, debt capital markets lawyer PAOLA LEOCANI has moved to White & Case as a partner. Leocani was formerly a partner in the Milan office of Allen & Overy.
